FINE GRADE
This sand is a fine grade appropriate for casting medium size to smaller sized parts with safety and a level of precision needed for such parts. An average sized (in terms of casting sands) grain of sand allows for the safe release of hot gasses when casting medium sized to small parts or parts made with medium temperature melting metals such as aluminum. An average sized grain of sand creates reasonable detail such as may be required for general craft-work or costume Jewelry. Finely detailed jewelry or craft-work with very fine features may need to be molded using a product such as delft clay.
This green sand is formulated for the small foundry from products supplied to professional foundries. The very fine sand used in this product is appropriate for casting parts with a level of precision not possible using inexpensive and coarse sand readily available at commercial retailers for construction and landscaping purposes. This sand, manufactured by U.S. Silica Co., consists of 98.7 to 99.9 Crystaline Silica, less than 1.1% Aluminum Oxide, less than .1%  Iron Oxide and less than .1 % Titanium oxide. It will withstand furnace temperatures in excess of 3100 degrees fahrenheit before melting. The professional industrial quality binder used in this product is a specific grade of Volclay, a uniquely formulated smectite clay engineered for metalcasting by the American Colloid Company (ACC).
This product is engineered specifically to cast metals including aluminum,
copper, bronze and brass in a small foundry with safety and precision. This product is sold dry and 15 to 20 fluid oz. of water per 12 lb. quantity must be added. Additional 8 oz of ACC Volclay binder also included per 12 Lb. quantity of green sand purchased.
Please note that this additional binder is not sent to mix with the sand initially but it is sent only to use if after repeated uses the binder in the original sand wears thin.

Note on Shipping and Handling, Packaging Returns and Cancellations.
All items shipped in zip locked bags, double bagged to insure containment. Bags may be marked simply with contents by a permanent marker but may not contain other labeling. Items are generally handled within one business day and shipped within one business day, however will in no case be shipped later then two business days after handling. Items less than 16 oz. are generally most economically shipped USPS First Class and Items 16 Oz. and greater are shipped USPS Priority Mail and therefor arrive soonest. Certain items may be shipped via FedEx ground or UPS ground and transit time will vary. In all cases prices reflect the most economical way to ship an item. Those wishing to expedite shipping must contact seller. eBay estimated shipping times are based on average shipping times and are note a due date. Items shipped First Class will spend more time in transit. Items shipped over a USPS Holiday will be delayed at least one day.
Please note that once you place an order a seller incurs eBay fees and may incur shipping charges. Accordingly, this order must be paid for prior to processing a cancellation or return. Although we are not required to process a cancellation or return we understand that mistakes can occur and as a courtesy may work with buyers within the policy of eBay and this listing. Policy for Insuring Items Damaged or Lost in Transit.
Items or a combination of items weighing 14 oz or greater are shipped by USPS Priority Mail and insured to a value of up to $50. Buyers must file a USPS claim on items shipped Priority Mail if tracking shows the item was sent but it was damaged in transit or not received. Items weighing less than 14 oz are sent USPS First Class.
Please note that most packages sent USPS Priority Mail and USPS First Class arrive intact but on occasion items can be lost in transit or damaged. All products are packaged securely, liquids with liquid tight plugs and threaded caps, powders and granules double bagged and double sealed or in a heat sealed mylar bag. All products are sent in padded envelopes or corrugated boxes. Even with proper packaging it is inevitable that on a rare occasion both liquid and dry item packaging could be damaged in transit
with a resultant leak. Such situations are not the fault of the seller but are a part of normal shipping risk.
If an item is damaged in transit the buyer should provide documentation from the USPS.
Such occurrences do not warrant negative seller feedback. Instead, we offer every buyer the chance to resolve this issue within eBay policy by contacting us within 14 days of their purchase if something has not gone as planned. We can then work with the buyer to identify a proper solution.
